Worker’s Compensation Expert Witnesses

Lawsuits involving workers compensation have become quite complex. As the cost of medical care increases and workers recover from injuries that would have been fatal a few short years ago, catastrophic workers compensation litigation has become very complicated and necessitates an expert witness. The definition of a catastrophic injury traditionally included traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputations, severe burns, and multiple traumas. More recently however, claims that reach $1M are often deemed catastrophic.

In cases where it is difficult to determine if the employee was injured in a work related matter, the testimony of a workers compensation expert witness is crucial. The expert will be experienced in worker’s compensation laws in specific jurisdictions and how to calculate benefits such as cash or wage-loss benefits, medical and career rehabilitation benefits, and in the case of accidental death, benefits paid to dependents.
