Toxicology Expert On Fatal Crash

Toxicology expert Ola Bawardi testified that Harry Shane Scholes was high on hydrocodone when he allegedly hit an 87-year-old woman and her dog who were standing on a Temecula, CA, sidewalk, killing them both.  The painkiller was present in Scholes’ blood at about five times the amount considered appropriate for therapeutic use, the toxicologist at Bio-Tox Laboratories testified.  Scholes is charged with second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence.
