Forensic pathology expert witness Dr. Bennet Omalu will testify in the murder trial of Tatiana Leibel. The Round Hill, NV, woman is accused in the 2014 shooting death of her husband Harry Leibel. Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and met the defendant who said her husband had shot himself. Expert witness Dr. Omalu is a forensic pathologist with expertise in forensic and hospital autopsies, causes, mechanisms and manners of death. He is currently the Chief Medical Examiner of San Joaquin County, CA.

Forensic Psychiatry Expert Witness Files Holmes Sanity Report

Forensic psychiatry expert witness Dr. William Reid filed his sanity report for James Holmes with the Texas court this week. The court-appointed psychiatrist is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 20, 2012 shooting. Defense attorneys asked Judge Carlos Samour again to postpone the Aurora movie theater murder trial saying they will not have enough time to review the recently completed sanity exam for the trial in December.

Forensic Pathology Expert Witness Testifies In High Profile Case

Forensic pathologist Dr. Werner U. Spitz testified in the murder trial of Theodore Wafer. Wafer claims he acted in self dense in the death of Renisha McBride at Wafer’s home in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Dr. Spitz opined that swelling on McBride’s hands occurred when she was knocking on Wafer’s screen door and is consistent with the prosecution’s case against Wafer. Wafer contends the injury to McBride’s hands was a result of the airbag in the car McBride crashed more than three hours before her death. Spitz testified that hands aren’t normally affected by an airbag.
