Chemical Expert Testifies In 3M Case

3M defense attorney Bill Book cross examined chemical expert Dr. James Hunsley last week in the case of Veto Kleinaitis, who claims that benzene found in the company’s adhesives and other products led him to develop a form of cancer five years ago. Hunsley was testifying for Kleinaitis, arguing his exposure to traces of benzene in products made by 3M put him at greater risk than the average person who does not work with benzene containing products.

Environmental Health Expert Opines In Chemtura Case

Chemtura Corp., a bankrupt chemical maker, won dismissal of a $9 billion claim from a group that sought damages for infertility and other health problems linked to a flame retardant. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Gerber in Manhattan said in court April 8th that the nonprofit public-interest group, Council for Education and Research on Toxics, or CERT, lacks standing to bring a claim in the case because it isn’t a creditor, and it made the claim too late.
