Roger Clemens Defense Seeking Expert

CourtroomThe Beacon Herald reports U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton has delayed the trial of Roger Clemens until July 6. Originally set to start with jury selection April 5, Clemens’ lawyer, Rusty Hardin, said the defense team needed more time to go through the tens of thousands of pages of documents turned over by prosecutors and that they needed to retain an expert witness to testify on the pitcher’s behalf. Walton has set July 6 “for the commencement of jury selection.” Clemens, a former star pitcher, is charged with lying and obstructing a congressional investigation into whether he used performance-enhancing drugs.
