Police Procedure Expert Witnesses & NYPD Case

Police expert witnesses may write reports and testify on police training, police organization and management, use of force, vehicle pursuits, crime reduction techniques, and related topics.  In the news, police policy expert witness Samuel Walker is working pro bono for the plaintiffs suing the NYPD over racial profiling.  The plaintiffs are asking for broad reforms and Walker proposed a database to collect information and analyze problem officers.  Walker has authored 11 books on policing, criminal justice history and policy, and civil liberties. His current research as a University of Nebraska criminology professor involves police accountability, focusing primarily on citizen oversight of the police and police Early Warning (EW) systems.
