New York Construction Expert Offers Advice On Choosing The Right Architect

phpWMxGbFConstruction expert Alex Chiesi, president and founder of Arc III Construction Corp., offers advice on choosing the right architect:

When looking for an architect, Chiesi says it’s important to find someone that does not say “yes” and “I do” just to get retained. “You need to be certain that they understand the overall project objective at the onset. One architect may be suited for development projects, one may be a fast track guy or gal who handles landmark obstacles well, another may be a brilliant draftsperson but labors when it comes to site directive, their area of expertise should dictate whether they’re a good fit”. says Chiesi “when viewing an architectural portfolio simply look for similarities to the scope of work that needs to be satisfied”.

Continuity between architect and client is very important but not necessarily more so than design team and the construction firm. “The more projects you build with the same team of professionals allows you as a GC to concentrate on more specific service requirements like value engineering, bid evaluation, quality assurance and critical scheduling” says Chiesi. “Communication across the board is key, that doesn’t mean asking all the questions and knowing all the answers but addressing project nuances at the right time and delivering that information to the proper command, be it architect, engineer, cm or site super.”
