Navigation Expert Witness Testifies On Sinking Of Ferry

Navigation expert witness Lee Alexander testified on GPS tracking data for the Queen of the North ferry which sank in 2006 off the coast of British Columbia.  Officer Karl Lilgert is on trial in the death of two passengers after the ferry hit Gil Island and sunk.  The expert opined that recorded data showed a routine voyage until the ship missed a turn and sailed into the island.  The ship departed Prince Rupert, British Columbia, on a regularly scheduled service to Port Hardy on the northern end of Vancouver Island
