Medical Expert Testifies In Vehicular Homicide Case

Alcohol & DrivingDr. Fran Gengo, a clinical pharmacologist at the DENT Neurological Institute, testified as an expert in analyzing breathylizer results in the trial of 25-year-old Ronald J. Wendt.  Wendt, convicted September 27th of aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of Katie Stanley, 18, and 10 other charges, will be sentenced Nov. 15.  Genesee County, NY, Judge Robert C. Noonan will have a range of sentencing options.  Under statute, each felony and misdemeanor carries its own sentencing guidelines, but all of the sentences will likely be served concurrently.

Gengo currently serves as an associate professor of Pharmacy and Neurology and a clinical assistant professor of Neurosurgery at the SUNYAB School of Medicine and was asked to relay to his expertise concerning alcohol in the body, as well as his knowledge of the breathylizer he was experienced in using.
