Engineering Expert Hired In School District Lawsuit

FurnaceThe Clark County, Iowa, R-1 School District is filing a $500,000 lawsuit against an engineering firm headquartered in Coralville.  The school district alleges the systems designed by Shoemaker-Haaland Engineer Gerald Moughler began to malfunction after the systems went into operation. The board hired an independent engineering expert to analyze the problems being experienced with the systems Moughler designed.

The lawsuit involves allegations of breach of contract and professional negligence, according to a news release issued by the Clark County School Board.  The claims are in connection with the heating and ventilating systems one of the company’s engineers designed for the district’s Running Fox and Black Hawk elementary schools.
